Was reading the reflections of a friend on his 3 mth mission trip to papua new guinea

One of the things that struck me was his observations that the way the short termers decorate their houses is different from the long termers. In the same way, are we decorating our earthly houses like we are short termers, or building lavish houses, putting our major resources in, like we are long termers in this earth?

The rich young ruler found it hard to follow Jesus as he had much to let go of. If he had sold all he had, and followed Jesus, it would be lifechanging to follow the Lord and witness all the things He did and said.. but presumably he left sad and all he had in the end were his possessions and missed the opportunity. The apostles lives were transformed after their time with the Lord.. to seek the Pearl of great price..

Yesterday at service they shared abt tithing. After message finished a leader went up to share his personal experience, he say there is 10%, 90% and 5000%. 

90% with God is better than 100% without God. 

And 5000%, is when the boy gave his 5 loaves 2 fishes , God used it to feed 5000 people

I found it encouraging that what we give in faith to God, He has the potential to multiply it to 5000% (and more!)

David asked her what advice she had, to serve the Lord faithfully as she had done on the field (for many yrs) and even now in her 70s as cell leaders in their church

She said “ Don’t give up. Don’t give up. The ministry has its ups and downs.. but don’t give up.. Press on..”

 Was reading ezekiel 38 and been reading through Ezekiel for a few weeks and past weeks have been a lot of measurements and cubits and chapter 38 the last chapter ended with the below verses and the explanation i read. 

Feel moved that God would want to be with us so much and there is so much thought to the design of the city and specific rooms and what will be done in each room and what the measurements of each room is..

All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.”

b. THE LORD IS THERE: Throughout the larger section of Ezekiel 40-48, the name of the city of Jerusalem is never specifically mentioned. Here we discover why; God will give the city a new name. It will be known as Yahweh Shammah, “Yahweh is There.” In that day, the overwhelming character and idea of Jerusalem would be that God was there.

i. Ezekiel experienced the horror of seeing the glory of God departing from the temple in a vision (Ezekiel 11). Then he saw it return (Ezekiel 43:5). Now, in the new name for the city, he received the assurance that God would remain.

ii. “We bethink us of the truth that there is to be a millennial age — a time of glory, and peace, and joy, and truth, and righteousness. But what is to be the glory of it? Why this, ‘Jehovah-shammah, the Lord is there!’” (Spurgeon)

iii. The principle will carry on into the eternal state. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.(Revelation 21:3)

iv. Wiersbe explains: “This is one of seven compound names of Jehovah found in the Old Testament.”

· Jehovah Jireh—’the LORD will provide’ (Genesis 22:13–14).

· Jehovah Rapha—’the LORD who heals’ (Exodus 15:26).

· Jehovah Shalom—’the LORD our peace’ (Judges 6:24).

· Jehovah Tsidkenu—’the LORD our righteousness’ (Jeremiah 23:6).

· Jehovah Shammah—’the LORD is present’ (Ezekiel 48:35).

· Jehovah Nissi—’the LORD our banner’ (Exodus 17:8–15).

· Jehovah Ra’ah—’the LORD our shepherd’ (Psalm 23:1).

... there is no timeline for getting over the loss of someone you love.

so i was lying in bed, waiting for L to go to sleep, but just content to lay next to her and stroke her hair while i waited.. and feeling thankful and glad for this simple moment.. and You said to me,, "did it ever occur to you that I can delight over you, in this same way..?''

no conditions, not based on how well i performed today (or any other day), but just because You love me.. like a Father loves His child..

Just got back fr cambodia mission trip

Second day

House to house discipleship 

Call for mass discipleship at 3 pm, arrange into large grps like cell grp

Teach how to pray , teach how to have a relationship with God, basics for new believers 

The last 2 days my team visted a village where ard 50 people received Christ including the village head and an ex doctor. We visited them the next day to do discipleship. Mass discipleship done at 3 pm. Rally done again at 4 pm. Arranged the crowd into 3 big cell grps and went through gospel again and how to pray. 

God healed many of the sick as we shared the gospel and prayed for them. Praise God !

Some of the people i prayed for had leg pain, various pains in the body. One lady had a shoulder with limited function. Could not lift all the way up straight. After prayer she was rotating it 360 degrees joyfully

Swp grp met a man whose eyes were closed and could not see. After prayers, he was able to open his eyes and turned out he could read english french and khmer. He immediately started reading the discipleship materials in English. He had been very sad when he lost his sight because of his loss of his language abilities and literacy. Praise God. 

Got connected with zhangzf and ZHua lately on wechat. Its pretty cool. Likt zzf wld ask me what im doing (im in clinic) and i wld ask him what he is doing (he is minding his cornfield fr chickens)

ZH says he is teaching students now. So glad for him. Not sure if he is still in the faith. Zzf wechat name is Jesus loves you. Thats encouraging. Makes my heart smile.

No church where zzf is.. SHor sent me a few chinese hymns and i forwarded some to them..

I dont know why but i miss u brother lately..

Today attended a evening missions conference session..
Worship time was so good.. there reached a moment and i was like..
i am undone in Your Presence.. and there was nothing and no one more beautiful than You..

tomorrow is Christmas day.

was thinking about the year that has passed and want to remember the parts that are more meaningful to me

Cambodia mission trip was one. learnt a lot.. saw people healed as we prayed , a hunchbacked lady straightened up and was healed of her pain.. a lady with a limp(for a year) was healed after we prayed for her twice.. many others healed of pain, vision restored in eyes..and more.. and many came to know Him.. i saw some of this when i went on a trip with WP church 12 yrs ago.. but this time i saw many more.. Thank God for His kindness.. and so many good things on the trip..

most of the year i just remember looking after Laura.. she is walking now.. was crawling before.. eating more solids now.. i enjoyed the time we went to the SEA aquarium , Isaac' mom and sis were here then too..

hung out some more with WP on our off days.. that was fun..
hung out with H some too..

Growing plants inspire me.

Been trying to grow dill for the third time. Growing plants inspire me cos many a time , seeds tt i planted weeks ago and hv given up on, can suddenly spring forth a tiny seedling and surprise me. It reminds me tt invisible to me, God is at work. As i water the nearby plants, having given up on those seeds, life may be stirring in those tiny dried-up looking little things. It reminds me that there is another power at work in this world, one that cannot be denied and is beyond my control. When i look at my metre tall tomato plants , i marvel that such a great big thing with unstoppable leaves sprouting in every direction, came from a tiny little seed.. creation is really quite amazing..

It is an encouragement and also a warning. Be faithful with our small beginnings for we know not where it may lead. Be mindful of our small wrong behaviours for it can also grow out of control.

如果你看到孩子打针觉得扎心，even more so God feels it when His children stumble around in the dark, lost, and when Jesus was crucified..

Laura lifted her head while on her tummy for the first time today.. Im fascinated..

Cheri n i are allowed to take M n M out agn.. :) seems they have improved much while we were absent and miss us a lot. Big M started gng library by herself and her english has improved and kids in school no longer bully her or call her stupid, instead they approach her and want to be her friend.. Children can be so mean.. I was taken aback when i heard it.. Anyway, she is happy w her progress and being accepted in school.. Which i am thankful for.. Small M is more outgoing too.. Praise You Lord for your care for them..

I pray that you will grow strong and healthy
And that you will love Him.

God gives us many chances..

We also must give others second chance, third chance and so on..

hurt people hurt people..

allow God to heal your hurt, and you will lose the impulse to hurt the one who hurt you.. then you can interact with them from a place of peace and wholeness..

Papa..why is it that when pple pass away, i miss them more than pple who just lose touch gradually..?
